Submission of Thesis for Ph.D degree for Fall, 2014(2015 August Graduation)

Those who are scheduled to graduate in August 2015 have to submit the thesis for degree within the designated period as below. We notify you of information about thesis for Doctorate degree for Fall semester, 2014.


1. Period of submitting the thesis and paying thesis review fee : Apr.2nd(Thu) ~ Apr.8th(Wed), 2015


2. Payment of Thesis review fees
  - Thesis review fee : 550,000 KRW
  - Account of payment for thesis review : Virtual Payment Account of each department office
(Contact to Department office)
  - Please pay the fees with your name (Applicant’s name)


3. Submission of Thesis : Application through Website, then Submit the required documents to Department Office.
 

  1) Application procedure on the website
    : Login to Aims2 portal website – Academic Information for Graduate school(대학원학사) – Graduation(졸업)(on the upper side) – Register Thesis Plan(on the left side) – Input the title of thesis (Korean and English) – Print out the form of “Petition for review of thesis for Doctorate degree”(박사학위 청구논문심사원)(Submit it to Department office) – Click “Registration of dissertation publication” - Upload the materials of dissertation publication – Print out the form of Confirmation letter of dissertation publication (Submit it the Department office)

 

  2) Required Documents to submit to the Department office
    - Petition for review of thesis for Doctorate degree(박사학위청구논문 심사원)
    - List of Review members for thesis for doctorate degree(박사학위청구논문 심사위원명단)
    - Recommendation letter of external review member(박사학위 교외심사위원추천서)
    - Personal Resume(Free style) (논문제출자이력서)(자유서식)
    - Research Ethics Compliance Statement(논문연구윤리준수확인서)
    - Confirmation Letter of Dissertation Publication(학위청구논문 학회지게재확인서)

      (Attach the cover page of reprint(printed copy) from Dissertation) (게재논문별쇄본표지 page 첨부)
   
* Applicants who are scheduled to submit the certificate of expectant publication on academic article have to submit the cover page of reprint(printed copy) from dissertation within the period of review.
  
 

* Recognition Criteria of expectant publication
Applicants have to submit the Certificate of the expectant Publication issued from applicable academy. Only in case that students can’t submit it within the designated period owing to unavoidable circumstances, they can submit the Confirmation letter from academic advisor in place of certificate of the expectant publication, but they have to submit the certificate of expectant publication before the date of graduation examination. If they do not submit it within the expected period before the date of graduation examination, they will not be allowed to graduate from school automatically in applicable semester.

 

 3) Required documents to submit to thesis review members
    - Thesis for review for each review members
    - Personal Resume for each review members (Free Style)
     * Thesis Title must be written in English and Korean. (In case of thesis written in English, applicants can write English Title on thesis for degree.

 

4. Qualification and Organization of thesis review members

 1) Thesis review members for Doctorate degree must be composed at least 5 people with Doctorate degree (including 3 Full-time professors of the said university and 1 external review members (available experts or external professor))
 2) Associate Professor or assistant professor with Ph.D degree can be Internal Thesis review members (Full-time professor) of Medical Department.
 3) Professors in applicable department have to be appointed preferentially as internal paper screening judges and Internal thesis review members can be composed including professors of related fields
 4) Majority of thesis members have to be composed with those who majored in the same field of study related to thesis contents
 5) In case that applicant is a lecturer in the said university, Full-time professor or associate professor with doctorate degree who studied in same major field and same position with applicants in the said university can be a paper screening judge.
 6) Academic advisor of applicant can be automatically thesis review member as long as there are no special reasons.
 7) Chairman of thesis review committee will be selected in Thesis review members without academic advisor and External Thesis review member will not be a chairman of thesis review committee
 8) Applicants relatives will not become thesis review members.
 9) If Professor in research year can participate in all process of paper screening, they will be a thesis review members, not limited in teaching student.

 

5. Notice and Form regarding submission of thesis for Doctorate degree : Please refer to the attached files(All forms for submission)
 1) Qualification for submission of thesis : Any students who satisfied the following conditions
    - A student who completed doctorate course or scheduled to complete the doctorate course
    - A student who received the guide (advisement) on thesis for two or more semesters
    - A student who passed the qualifying examination (Foreign language test and comprehensive examination)
    - A student who has yet to have 10 years for doctorate program after admission (excluding the period of leave of absence from school)
    - A student who completed courses (took all required credits for graduation) and registered research registration
    - A student who published or scheduled to publish the contents of thesis for degree on related academic articles (Apply the conditions of Department preferentially)

 

 ▶ Doctorate course
    • Science and Engineering Field: 2 Domestic articles or 1 Overseas article
    • Medical department : 2 or more domestic articles or overseas articles published in NRF Journal or the journal of Equal Grade
    • Biomedical department : 2 or more overseas articles published in SCI Journal or the journal of equal grade(including SCI journal and SCIE journal)
    • Humanities and Social Science field : 1 or more domestic article or overseas article

 

 ▶ Integrated course
    • Science and Engineering Field : 1 or more overseas article
    • Medical department : 2 or more domestic articles or overseas articles published in NRF Journal or the journal of Equal grade
    • Biomedical department : 2 or more overseas articles published in SCI Journal or the journal of equal grade(including SCI journal and SCIE journal)
    • Humanities and Social Science field : 2 or more domestic articles or 1 or more overseas article

 

※ Dissertation Publication means the thesis that published on academic journal after entered in doctorate courses. Dissertation Publication is only recognized in case of exact match between contents of thesis for degree and contents of publication in academic journal.


 2) Required Documents for submission of thesis
    - Petition for review of thesis for Doctorate degree(학위청구논문심사원)
      * Submit the Petition form after uploading on the AIMS2 Portal website
    - List of thesis review members (학위청구논문 심사위원명단)
    - Recommendation Letter of External Review member(교외심사위원 추천서)
    - Personal Resume)(Free style) (논문제출자이력서)(자유서식)
    - Confirmation Letter of Dissertation Publication(학위청구논문 학회지게재확인서)
      * Submit the confirmation letter of dissertation publication after uploading on AIMS2 Portal.
    - Cover page of reprint(printed copy) from dissertation(학회지게재논문 별쇄본표지page)
      * In case that thesis will be expected to publish, Applicants have to submit the Certificate of expectant publication on academic article and Cover page of the thesis for degree.
     * Applicants who are scheduled to submit the certificate of expectant publication have to submit the cover page of reprint(Printed copy) form dissertation within the period of review.
    - 5 copies of Thesis for review(심사용논문 5부)
     * Submit the 5 copies of thesis for review to review members directly.
    - Research Ethics Compliance Statement(논문연구윤리준수확인서)

Submission of Final printed copy

Jun.22nd(Mon) ~ Jul.3rd(Fri), 2015

- If students do not submit the final printed copy of thesis within designated period, you will be excluded from the list of graduation. 

 

Applicants must submit the final printed copy of thesis to Central Library in Ajou University.
